Guess who's going to be in the Metroplex tomorrow...Paul Johnson. Navy plays UNT.
No, but that's where the closest hotels worth staying in are.
How many bowls has Navy been to under Paul Johnson?
I enjoy people dogging different offensive systems. I also enjoy the fact that many aspects of the spread are nothing more than run and shoot meets the single wing. The only relatively interesting new offense to come along recently is the pistol but I hate the pistol. It's like running the I without a lead blocker.
Did anyone see where the Houston QB was moving to his right and then the ball was snapped. That is pure single wing. Florida's offense is about as close as you can get to the single wing. Football offenses run in cycles. Defenses adapt. The 3-3-5 is a result of the spread attack. Well, guess what happens when you get a bunch of fast scrawny guys running around to cover a teams receivers? You get your butt smoked by a team that has a big hefty line,2 tight ends, and a bruising running attack. Paul Johnson runs the offense that works for his players. Not the way some offensive coordinators run their offense and the players have to adapt. Class of '91
The QB at Hawaii ran for over 1,000 yards a season while Johnson was at Hawaii. How much more do you think he really knows?
I have no real problem with a gimmicky offense, except that I know as soon as we peak out at 7 or 8 wins, we will be blaming that same gimmicky offense for not getting us over the hump. Of course, that would be a wonderful problem to have at this point.
For the last time Paul Johnson was not at Hawaii when Jones was [and is] there! And for all of you who thinks he is as limited as Kenny Hatfield was better think again. No one knows what he would do if he had a legit passing qb-the service academies can't get them and division 2 schools[where he previously coached]rarely do either. So let's give him a break and watch NTSU's spread against Navy's exotic triple option tomorrow. It should be an interesting game to watch to say the least!
