I sat there and watched 2 qtrs...um, we suck completely. How can you expect a 5'7 guy Rushbrook to catch over all db's over 6'0? Why throw his way? Can our TE not catch? Do we not have a screen pass? A trick play?, ANYTHING BENNETT!!! Can Bennett really get this team where we want it? I am beginning to have serious, serious doubts we picked the wrong guy. Please tell me otherwise. I don't care about our 1 ok class - how can we expect to recruit with this field display? We are not getting any better...just worse.

We're all frustrated, because .... well .... we're not going to challenge OU for the national title this year, to say the least. But as for recruiting, I would think there are a lot of HS players who believe in their ability and will like the fact that they could play a lot - and soon. The most amazing thing I've heard is that the coaches are getting just as good a reception from HS players and coaches as last year. Coach Bennett has been a part of a lot of winning programs, and he knows a lot of HS coaches.

Remember when he was hired, and a lot of us preached "realism" and said this was a rebuilding job that would take three recruiting classes - minimum? I'm clinging to that right now to get me through my days. I need to see my Ponies win. And I remain confident we will win under Coach Bennett. I'm not going to argue the merits of redshirting guys versus playing them early, but if you look at it, evidence does seem to suggest Coach Bennett and his staff can identify talent:

- Darrin Johnson (recruited by Cavan, lost when Cavan was fired, re-recruited and signed by Bennett) - singled out as one of few players who had an exceptional game against Boise.

- Jay'Mond Cleveland and Renaldo Pellerin - two of the more promising WRs on the team (if only they'd get more passes thrown their way!)

- Richuel Massey - looked very good in brief appearance, thought to be the future of the running game.

- Desmond Jones - one of the best defensive linemen we've had this year.

Not many teams play true freshmen and get impact performances. We have, although admittedly, our record has required that some of them play. He'll get more talent in here and we'll win. Just hope we don't go nuts in the meantime.

(By the way, cool handle, Pony_Fan!)
