If a coach is not named this week does it then follow that Terry Bowden is probably not going to be the coach? The season is now over and if Bowden is one of the possibilities, would there be any reason to wait since he is not under contract with any other team? So by the end of the week if we do not have a coach, Bowden can probably be scratched off the list because he would have been hired and he would then become a safety net choice at best if others bail out?
Also will Orsini wait a few days because the A&M press conference naming their new head coach willl steal the headlines, plus the Thursday Cowboy/Packers game will get more space in the paper than usual for the average mid-week?

Call Steve Orsini. I doubt anyone who frequents this board knows Shinola.

Assume that we are waiting till the end of the season (this weekend) and it is a BSC coach, then we are looking at the coaches from Rutgers, Louisville, Pitt, USC, UCLA, Washington, LSU, Tenn, West Virginia, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arizona and Arizona State.
Assume it is other possibilities, then Army, Navy, Fresno State (Pat Hill), Hawaii, North Texas and La Tech.
Now assume it is any old smuck we can get, you can toss in the Bowdens and Barnetts of the world. So that pretty much narrows down the speculation possibilities to 30 or 40 possibilities.

PONYTE....my post was about if Bowden could most likely be eliminated if he was not named this week because of the reasons stated. Whats up?....are you having a bad morning?

Unless its a coach from Missou, Ohio State, VT, BC, Army, Navy, OU, WVa., Tenn. or Pitt, the announcement should be this week. If it is not this week, you guess its Johnson, the Missou OC, the OU assistant, the Tenn. OC, or one of the NFL types are the guy. Tommy Bowden looks safe now. Houston Nutt looks safe now.

Seems to me that if we don't announce a hire today, Orsini doesn't "have his man" unless it's a current coach. There would be no reason to wait beyond today to announce the hire (quite the opposite actually).
