Thanks for the articles but he has zero chance of being hired here based on his horrible record. He only had a decent record for a few years because he had Seneca Wallace doing his magic.

I agree with you on that. It's the "proven D-1 HC" requirement of some on this board that I think the search committee might end up getting hung up on.

I think Dan McCarney would be an excellent hire. It took a while, but he was able to get Iowa State to a place where they could compete with the Big XII and make bowl games. He was able to recruit people to a place that many players wouldn't want to go and wasn't given a whole lot of help by the university. At SMU, he would have an easier time convincing recruits to come to Dallas than Ames, Iowa. He was able to do well with very little.
