If Team X already knows who they want, I think it would be insulting to bring in someone else just so they can meet an interview quota. "Look, we have no intention of making you an offer, but you're African American so it makes us look good to bring you in." That's just dumb. Let them interview who they want.

As far as I can tell the black coach held in the highest esteem is Turner Gill and it looks like he might get the Nebraska job. How many trips can Turner take around the country for a dog and pony show. I would love for Turner to come here but it looks like they have other coaches in mind. I am not clairvoyant like Herewegoagin so I can't give exact details.

For all we know, Ramon Flannigan has applied for the job and has had an interview. If that were the case, my concern would be that he has no proven head coaching experience. I would love to see a former SMU footballer come back and take the reins IF they had the experience of a successful head coaching position. Otherwise, regardless of skin Melanin content, I would not be interested. We need a much of a proven winner as possible. We do not need to be a proving ground for an up and comer.
