This will be very abbreviated since our performance has been impacted by injuries over the last few weeks and with the change at QB and freshman at other positions the stats do not mean as much.
Basically, Tulsa will be a breath of fresh air from the recent passing barrage. They have a very good running game, #16 in the country by YPG. And a mediocre passing game, #87, again by YPG. This will be a tune-up for Rice. SMU's rushing defense is #49 in YPG. This plays to our strength (if I can use that word.) This explains why Tulsa beat Hawaii and gave BSU a run for their money.
On offense, hopefully, all bets are off and we will see a new level of production. Tulsa has shown to be a very good pass defense, #24 in YPG and #18 in pass efficiency defense but the run defense is #105. Can you say option? Anyway, this should play to our strengths as well, such as they are.
If the defense can remain focused and Phillips can get the running game going this should be interesting.
