What will we do with our current nuecleus of players. We don't have an OL to block anybody in running situations, not enough backs to run the triple option, and receivers that will never get to catch the ball. PJ is not the right man for the job here, whether he is a good coach or not. We have to continue to throw the ball 70% of the time and run it 30%.

And it will be the job of our new coach, whomever that may be to worry about that. That is why he will be getting $1.5 million.

Or I guess we could do the obvious and hire bigdaddy since he has all the answers.

I don't have all the answers, but any youth league football coach knows that you assemble a team based on what you are trying to do offensively and defensively. We are not an option offense. Hell we are not even a running team period. Our QB lead the team in rushing (running for his life) and we want to bring in a guy who runs the triple option. He is a great coach, but no a fit here. Now there is a chance he can come in and not run the triple option. Coaches are versitle in their knowledge of the game. SMU does not equal triple option. The obvious is to be realistic about the coaching hire. Orsini knows what he has in the talent here. He is not gonna screw one of his friends or hisself in this hire.

i think 3 out of the past 4 years our QB has led us in rushing

Bigdaddy, you say you do not have all the answers and then you say you know what a particular coach will do with our particular players when he comes. How do you know that Johnson will run a triple option? How do you know that if we hired Fran that he would run the I formation or a single wing or a punt on every 1st down. You do not. I know you were a great baseball star and probably are really Barry Bonds, but I sense that you think you could do better than anyone in the country.

For the umpteenth time, we are the worst team in college football. And if a player of ours is going to get hurt playing football then he needs to quit. But in case you have not noticed, we do not have a coach which also means we do not have a recruiter in place. I personally think we will have one on December 3, 2007 and whomever it is, ( I have no evidence it will be Johnson) he will be better than what we have had and which ever players choose to stick around will be a better team than they were this year, regardless of what offense they run. But the coach will decide what he feels is best for the team because that coincidentally is also in his best interest.

Mark Rydel on you sniffing paint again. What I said was. "Now there is a chance he can come in and not run the triple option". Do you just get excited when I post? Your wife is getting jealous.

What I do know is this. Every coach looking at SMU is looking at the nuecleus of players we have and what they might can do with what we have. Money is not the option just the incentive. All coaches want to succeed 1st. Success will bring money. Orsini knows he must hire someone that will take advantage of what we have now. Another 1-3 years of this and we are playing in DII. Say what you want, but you are scared and grasping at every straw you can. PJ is not the fit here. He is an excellant coach, but not a fit here.

I still have no reason to believe it is Johnson, but if he does come I see a nucleus just fine for whatever he wants to do. I just do not see the talent for anything he may want to do.

You are sniffing paint? I don't think he is the man either. Coaches that run the ball will look at out neucleus of OL and say you gotta be kidding me. We can line up and throw the ball decently. What we should have done this year was go to the quick game all year long. For those that do not know what the quick game is, its no huddle, throw and sometimes run. Everybody new we could not run the ball. What changes if we hire PJ?
