I have said my piece about PJ. Great guy, great football coach, but I think there are a few better fits for SMU that appear to be available. Having said that, I will reserve judgment until we know who Johnson's staff would be. If he has a plan for a staff that has a few stud recruiters with local ties, that would be encouraging. I haven't known who our go to recruiter has been since Giles left. If Johnson does what another North Carolina guy did when he came here, it might might work out. Say what you will but Dement immediately reached out, hired a local guy and emphasized area talent. Johnson must do that in a big way and a real way. Unlike Doherty in my estimation so far.

Don't laugh. John Blake would be one of the first assistants I would contact. GREAT RECRUITER.

Yeah, because he was black. And the BCA was all over OU for hiring the drunkard over a black coach...

Is there a reason he would not simply bring his current staff, or big chunks of it anyway?

One of his assistants would be in line for the Navy job, and who knows who might get promoted to stay on that staff...

he was hired because Barry Swizter pushed him on Steve Owens who was the AD at the time, not because of his skin color.....
