And some of you blame this on the offense. Shame on you.
exactly. Smu put enough points on the board this year. What is needed is a defensive overhaul. Not exactly a specialty of johnson it does not seem.
Well, it was Bennett's specialty and look where that got us.
Good coaches coach. A good coach, regardless of background can turn around the team, not just one side of the ball.
BTW, most year's Johnson's defense has been better than Bennett's.

BTW, what defensive coach has even been mentioned as a candidate, even in speculation?

1999 - Ga. Southern was 18th in total defense
2000 - Ga. Southern was 45th in total defense
2001 - Ga. Southern was 6th in total defense
2002 - Navy was 99th in total defense
2003 - Navy was 42nd in total defense
2004 - Navy was 44th in total defense
2005 - Navy was 62nd in total defense
2006 - Navy was 61st in total defense
2007 - Navy is 107th in total defense <-- only returned 3 starters, 7 lettermen
And Navy is undersized because they have to meet physical requirements for the services.

Of course our offense scored. Our defense was good at getting the ball to the offense by letting the other team score quickly and often. By ranking last in scoring defense we provided our offense with more touches than any other teams.

Gary Barnett was far and away my top choice and Terry Bowden second but it appears they don't have a shot. Also, he has turned a program around and won at a place with litte talent.

He would never come back here. He has said many times that his time in Dallas having to play Freshman walk-ons against the SWC was a career low.

That being said, I also think with Johnson's name being up for many of the BCS vacancies, many of us thought he was out of our league. Not to mention he already makes $1.5 million a year.
Just because I would have preferred Turner Gill doesn't mean I'm not content with Johnson. He wins football games. And he has won under similar circumstances.
he's won under similar circumstances? who does navy recruit against? service academies? georgia southern is what conference? equivalent to cusa? i'm hopeful as anybody but don't see the similarity of circumstances. somebody elaborate on this please.
