I guess someone (perhaps Arkansas) made a run at old Jimbo and FSU figured it needed to lock him down with this baton pass thing. Good news is that Terry is not the heir apparent.

Also, things can change. Look at the Redskins - Gregg Williams was named head-coach-in-waiting (or something) to succeed Joe Gibbs, and Al Saunders received some sort of similar label. Of course, any hurt feelings were assuaged with fat paychecks.
