Nope. He'll come out just fine, you'll see. It's that GT AD that will look foolish no matter what happens.
Yeah. That guy is HOSED! If he lost out to SMU because we were willing to reach into our pockets and outbid them to get back on the national stage--fine, move on, claim he wasn't the leading candidate, and SMU's interest made you want to take a second look at him. If they lose to Duke? Well, then they got outbid by the worst team in their own conference, and the worst team in college football, AND they have to play them every year, so if they ever lose to him--GOODBYE! The hire you let slip through your fingers turned around the worst team in college football for, what, 3 years running?, and now they are beating you? You, sir, are a moron for even getting into this mess.
Getting this back on track... Totally... it's ridiculous that he be in this mess... yeah, we're all hacked because we want a coach. GT won a darn MNC in '90!!! He is being made to look like a fool... by who? Nah it ain't little old/the same old SMU. It's Orsini.
GO STEVE-O GO!!!!

What a better day for PJ to announce that he is staying at Navy then on Pearl Harbor Day. Gets more money and strung it out just long enough for the date to match up.
PR.

I'm about to get strung out.

Time for the expiration notice - we need to let him know that by 10:00 am if he does not say yes we yank the offer. And let our Duke and GT folks know we mean it.
Time to get the bidding going the other way. We waited this long - there are other fish in the sea at this price.

What a stunning revelation!
I swear, CSTV is to useful/credible news as Oprah is to entertainment. COMPLETELY USELESS.

Thad, you are correct. The fact that Orsini has done enough to get Johnson on a plane to come to SMU to check it out and to not accept the GT job yet speaks volumes. There is a real committment here and STeve O has put us in a bidding contest with the ACC. It is GT who will look foolish regardless.
It does speak volumes that Orsini got Paul on the plane but it should have been done 4 weeks ago. If Orsini tried to get Paul to discuss the job 4 weeks ago( before everyone else in the country fired/hired a coach) and Paul said SMU has to wait until the end of the season, Orsini should have moved on from there. We shouldn't be in a bidding war right now. We should have a coach out recruiting athletes.

Absolutely right.
Pull the offer, and give him the finger while you're at it. The days of sitting around and hoping and begging ended when Steve-O took the helm. The fact that this kind of money has been mentioned has perked up the heads of a lot of other coaches. There will be good candidates wanting this job. Johnson isn't Don Shula and he isn't Urban Meyer.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

He wasn't going to come here 4 weeks ago when he was in the middle of his season. Anyone who was working would have told us we had to wait until the season was over.
