WUSA 9 reported that Paul Johnson is going for a second meeting with GT in Atlanta this morning, Friday. They also said that Duke offered $2 Million and is one of the suitors along with SMU. Of course his agent is in Atlanta.

Don't they mean 3rd? Or is this old news from earlier this week?
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

I have a hard time believing that as it is nowhere to be found on Gt or Navy boards and is not posted on the AJC site. Surely this would have hit the media by now if true.

A Television news station in DC with a pretty good reputation for accuracy at 11:00 p.m. said that he was going to GT today. That's the media in Johnson's back yard.

I'm not questioning your source, just wondering why it hasn't popped up on the radar screen anywhere else?? I would think the Navy blogger would know of a new interview, but he hasn't posted today, so it may be true.
If so, looks like the PJ train has left the station and we should be on our way to meet w/ RN.

I hope this guy is that good, because I for one am growing weary of him waiting for a better offer. I vote we go on to Plan B, whoever that is. Enough is enough.

This report is now making its way around the message boards, but only quoting ponyfans.com as the source. still no legit confirmation.
i have to say, IMO, we are out of the race for PJ. no source or inside info, just a simple opinion from someone living 2000 miles away from SMU.

I agree. Fish or cut bait. It's obvious to us all now. PJ is a slut.

I guess if we were in PJ's shoes we'd be having a tough time deciding too-but enough already. Surely he has thought about the possibility of leaving before so he should have been mentally prepared for this scenario.

Navy term: Cut him some slack. BCS schools vs. SMU. The fact we are in play is impressive, so we should appreciate his interest in us. I can make a case we should be the winner by turning around a historical program with a great university in a wonderful city. I think he understands the upside and downside, so creating an ultimatum serves no purpose other than appearing overly anxious.

ok, now it is rant time...
so we waited a stinking 5 weeks to talk to PJ, out of respect for his current employer or at his request or whatever. We seemed to have interviewed ZERO candidates in the meantime, although viable candidates like Barnett were pleading for the job and RN was saying we are a diamond in the rough. We say nope, no one with a "past" (whatever the f$% that means!!!) will be hired at SMU.
We finally get to bring in our man, steve-o's choice, our #1 guy PJ. We roll out the red carpet, open up the checkbooks, offer to change the model and make a commitment to football. And he plays us to get a better offer from GT (we all know that is where he will now end up). This is not some tough "moral" contemplative thinking by PJ...this is dollars. plain and simple. I have to believe he knew he would be going to GT or staying at Navy this whole time. He just wanted to raise the value.
I appreciate the fact that Steve-o wanted his guy, and we patiently waited, but c'mon. It is not fair to the fans to leave us hanging like this. We were the 1st to fire. And now it seems that we put all of our eggs in 1 basket.
