I have said from the beginning that this is the guy I think will end up the HC. My 1st choice is Barnett but I really think Mason fits the profile
developed for this current situation.

Facts about Glen Mason

1. Doesn't have any baggage. He quarreled with the AD at Minnesota and he got fired because of the meltdown to Tech in the bowl game.
2. Runs a pro-style offense. Running game is lights out. His offensive line's blocking technique is one of the best you'll see.
3. QBs will grow. And I bet he can get Tony Peterson from Iowa State to come with him.
4. He recruited Texas when he was at Kansas and Minnesota.
5. Has a history of turning around programs.
6. Special teams and defenses suffered in the last couple years with the Gophers but in the beginning those units were very good.
7. If you can stand his arrogance, fine.
8. Never had the NCAA follow him or investigate any of his programs. The worst thing that happened was when a player was murdered a couple of years ago.
9. He can take your program to a championship level. Maybe not championship level -- at least that was the case at KU and Minnesota. But those programs experienced better success.

I've laid out everything I can think of. Don't even know if he is on the radar.

You dismiss that like it's a parking ticket.

He's got all the sizzle of a bowl of cold oatmeal, but maybe he can coach a little.

Is he your dad? Or are you Glen Mason?

He's George Patton. He relishes that kind of violence.

I think you're taking that out of context. You'd have to read how that story was covered in order to know how that was handled.

Having watched him coach in the Big 12, I don't think he would be terrible. But, if we're going after Big 12 flunkies, I think Dan McCarney would be a better pick. He did great things at Iowa State--made them a contender in almost every game with the big boys (even though they still lost most of them) when they were a joke before, in the face of a very difficult recruiting situation. Now look at what he has done for USF's defense--another very difficult recruiting situation.

Plus, his only baggage is that he beat his wife, so that shouldn't affect the school, right?
