hey i say that Steve-O should get real mad, look at himself in the mirror for 5 mins, stare himself down with AC/DC in the background and come out with guns blazing!

call Urban Meyer and using the donated funds....

offer him a 2 year contract at 5 million per year and tell him we worry about year 3 in 2 years...

Better yet.. lets give him all revenue we get from the jumbotron each season.... .

I think the term "played" is too strong. I believe that Orsini believed he had a great chance of getting his guy and pulled out all the stops to do so - maybe even to the extent of saying "Paul - you are the ONLY choice".

I feel kinda bad for Steve-O today.

yeah i agree ... all joking aside i respect the deal he tried to make...

Those quotes were directed as his new fan base. What do you expect him to say?
Every coach wants to win a championship. Orisini will get us where we need to be.

So he swung and miss- big f'n deal. SMU has never gotten its FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD choice in any coaching search. We've had ADs and others who have been mailing it in without any plan or hopes to lure a quality Coach. At least Orsini has a plan. Give him a break-he is working from a short deck.

Best post ever by Stallion. Orsini didn't get played, he played the game. He also made us incredibly visible in the process, let people know we have money, and intend on playing football again etc. Whether you like PJ, or the way it played out, Orsini is right in there swinging.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Yes indeed. We got some headlines this program hadn't received in years. There are more than a few coaches whose ears had to perk up a little when they saw what Steve O was offering!

WAGNER: Ultimately, what led to your decision? What was your reasoning?

JOHNSON: ... goal of mine is to try and win a national championship. I’ve had a zillion opportunities to leave here, but I didn’t want to go somewhere where I didn’t think you had a chance to play for championships. I think at this program (Georgia Tech) you do.

If that was truly a factor how could he have even seriously considered the Pony job. This is a kick in the gut to Steve-O. This has to really bother Steve-O considering that this is the second time he has been rejected by his friend PJ.

Steve-O was played like a grand piano.

WRONG.

During the interview, Steve surely asked PJ what were his goals.

In other interviews with other coaches, Steve will ask them what are your goals.

Anyone who doesn't say they want to win a national championship should not be hired.

We have no interest in the guy who says one of my main coaching goals is to win 7 games and go to the Bell Helicopter Bowl in FW.
