It's not like SMU is competing with 3 other schools for the 3 potential coaches at this point anymore. I could see being forced to wait if there were only 3 good prospects that had their eyes on other jobs. But that is not the case here.
Orsini could have hired any number of good prospects weeks ago. There is no NEED to "wait for the right guy for the job." That is BS. There is no way Orsini could say for instance that X would be a better coach for SMU than Bowden or Barnett and that's why we are STILL forced to wait. Maybe Johnson was worth the wait, but Orsini should have had a guy in his back pocket ready to accept the offer once that long shot inevitably fell through.
