Number seven is good.
My comments on each one:
1. Financial commitment: We say we have it now 2. Tradition: Some will be pissed that I say this, but sorry, a nat'l championship 80 years ago and a Heisman winner 70 years ago, along with a few winning season (but mostly around .500) 40 years ago, followed by 4 remarkable seasons 30 years ago followed by a 20 year bowl drought (complete with one winless season, one one win season, and two no football seasons) do not add up to "Tradition." 3. Conference appeal: Nope. 4. Recruiting base: I guess you could make the argument that it exists, though #7 works against us, as does #3. 5. Stability of the administration: Stable? Yes. Now we do. Although Steve-O can see his honeymoon time quickly come to an end with a crappy hire. Dr. Turner is unsurpassed in fundrasing for SMU as a whole, but is he really an impedance to Orsini's agenda? I guess this one is arguable.. 6. Facilities: I guess we're okay in this department. 7. Admissions Flexibility: Nope. 8. Campus feel: I say it's our best asset. It'll be nice when all the damn construction is done, though. Not only Crum etc., but Mockingbird from campus to the Tollway. 9. Fan sanity: Fans? Well, hope the guy's happy with the 1500. 10. Climate: Not bad here.
Isn't arguable at all...you are damn tootin' Turner can impede Orsini's search, and frankly, he already has: he said early that he was really wanting a coach from the list who don't have controversial pasts. The guy might well go down as a Willis Tate-type figure, but he solidifies it with a big hire who is successful. However, for some reason, he can't get that through his thick head. Really liked your analysis, though. ![]() "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
