Yeah, what Rolex said!!!
And for those who rely on what other people think (like judging a recruiting class by how many OTHER offers they got..), don't underestimate the number of kids who are NOT on the top area, nation, state recruiting lists who could blow by the ones that are. They may not be seen because a number of reasons:
- They never played football in high school, but could do a 9 something 100 yard dash and decide to do only track. Then decide to walk on football.
-They move because of a their single parent trying to find a good job and don't establish big numbers in high school.
- Military family moves
- Just plain didn't like the local football program, but powerlifts volkswagens for fun
These are not so far out examples, but the list goes on. I am tired of hearing how recruiting classes ratings' mean so much. Look at Mack Brown. The famed class of 1999 didn't produce a championship, even with the help of his other top ten or top five classes.
Last year, Oklahoma had NOBODY in the first three rounds of the NFL draft, yet they were/are one of the top programs in the nation. Just plain good coaching.
If a coach sees a talent not on someone else's list, but the prospect has the tools the coach knows will fit in his scheme, then who cares how "heavily recruited" he is?
Okay.... off my chest.
