1. Athletic Director Joe Alleva reiterated Saturday that Duke's admissions standards will not be altered for the new coach. While the rest of the ACC admits the majority of its recruits at the minimum NCAA qualifications, Duke only takes a handful of NCAA qualifiers in each class, preferring its recruits to have higher SAT scores and grade point averages than the NCAA standard, which is based on a sliding scale. For example, if a student has a 2.5 GPA, he would need an 820 on the SAT. Cutcliffe acknowledged the difference between Duke's standard and the one at Tennessee or Ole Miss, his previous stop as a head coach, but he didn't anticipate it being an obstacle. – News & Observer
