Go find me a RB in the veerbone or wishbone that carries the ball even 20 times a game-I can find about 500 kids in recent years where the TB or I Back carries the ball over 25 over 30 times each and every game. I can find plenty of guys who carried the ball 40 times a game. You know this-if you watch college football-its silly for me to even have to name names. SOMETIMES there might be a FULLBACK every 3-4 years who carries the ball 20 times a game but these guys are just workhorses not spotlighted backs. I'd be surprised if there is a single veer or wishbone RB in the Top 50 RBs in the Country for the last several years

Can't find any because they don't exsist. Look at the carries for Navy this season. Both slot backs (you can call them what you want) carried the ball as many times as the average running back in the nation.

Stallion you have had too much to drink now. We are talking about today not the last 20-30 years. Everybody is running a version of the West Coast/Spread Offensense. Nobody is running the veerbone/brokenbone but PJ. No data available. I understand your point, but it is pointless. Who runs the veerbone/brokenbone but PJ? GT will hate him 6 games into the season. Put eight or nine in the box and lock up the recieivers. In the ACC PJ goes 3-9 against good teams. He could succeed in CUSA running that crap but not the ACC. If he is that good, the other schools would have known. He is good for the small market or stuggling programs.

GT loses yet another skill position commitment in WR A.J. Jenkins(rated 5.7). Seems as if he wanted to go to a wide open offense at Illinois that could better "spotlight" his skills.

Kyle Eckel (now with the Patriots) carried the ball 235 times at Navy in '04 under PJ's system. 20x's a game... Good player, but not going to remind anyone of Adrian Peterson...Obviously, it's possible to get carries, and I imagine with a real talent in the backfield, the numbers could be even bigger.

I can understand hesitation from WR's and QB's, but I still think there's plenty of opportunity for a talented runner to showcase his skills in this offense.

I agree with you bigdaddy, noone but service academies even run this offense anymore so it is a pointless argument. If you want to go back to when the 'bone was run by the big boys you can find many big time RB's. (Billy Simms, Rozier, Dupree, Lawrence Phillips, just to name a few). The reason there is no big time RB's now is because no big time schools run the offense.

and not having a coach at all is really helping our recruiting. i'm sure this "great hire" is going to be able to bring an entire recruiting class in a couple months.
