UCLA/Neuheisel Update

Postby QuikSStang » Sat Dec 22, 2007 8:45 pm

ESPN reporter during the Las Vegas Bowl reported that Neuheisel met with UCLA for 3 hours last week and is the front runner for the job. She also said that UCLA wants a coach by January 1.

Maybe we should wait until January 2-3 to start panicking, if a big program like UCLA can wait til Jan 1...

So if he gets it, what will the over/under be on him getting his next NCAA violation? 1 season? 2, maybe?

Walker to get interview with UCLA chancellor
Bruins' defensive coordinator and interim coach will become the third candidate to get to the second level of process.
By Chris Foster
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

4:00 PM PST, December 22, 2007

DeWayne Walker, UCLA's interim football coach, will be interviewed by UCLA Chancellor Gene Block for the Bruins' job, a source familiar with the search said.

Walker is one of five coaches to have interviewed for the position and will be the third to get a session with Block. Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Rick Neuheisel and Temple Coach Al Golden have met with Block.

Walker has run the UCLA program since Karl Dorrell was fired as coach on Dec. 3. Walker has been the Bruins' defensive coordinator the last two seasons and is a key figure in the Bruins' recruiting efforts.

word is that slick rick lost interest in the smu gig due to the many unreturned phone calls

btw- if we do ever get a head coach, are there going to be any quality assistants available? the HC cannot do it all by himself
