Agreed. We lose 3 seniors on our O line, with only 1 name I can think of that shows potential to step up (LeRibeus, but I don't think he played a down this past season). Defense will definitely be suspect. But having said that, we were in the hunt in several of our games this season because of the parity in CUSA.

Just remember, when you make absolute statements, you have to anticipate someone to give you the exception to the rule. Do I think we'll be great immediately? No, but to paraphrase Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber, "so you're saying there's a chance."

You had me at "give out of my life, I don't want to ever see you again". I just know she was kidding.

HA! Greatness. I compare that to complaining that you slept with Heidi Klum, but only once.

Insert tasteless sexist remark here.

FRAN will not stay for 5 years-- which is probably how long it will take to get this program back to respectibility.

So, he's not my choice. I want some longevity in the next hire.

Not me. I want a coach that will be so successful that he will be a hot commodity next year. I will worry about that then. Why do some of you worry that our coach may be successful. We have not had a coach go to a better coaching position (if able to get a job in coaching at all), since Ron Meyer. If we have a coach leaving due to success, we will not have a major problem in hiring another one.

I respectfully disagree on Fran, mrydel-- I believe other coaches on the recruiting trail will be reminding every recruit that Fran won't stay at SMU, same as most anywhere else:

1998–2000 TCU
2001–2002 Alabama
2003–2007 Texas A&M

If he'd agree to give ALL the $$$ back if he leaves early, then fine go get 'em. At least you'd have a slush fund for the next HC

Otherwise, his FB plan for SMU will be band-aid on cancer.

If you have read any of my posts you have read that a strong buy out is necessary with whomever we hire in order that we do not have to go back to our deep pockets again. If you think that Fran could be unsuccessful at SMU and then just waltz into another job, you have not watched SMU football prior to 12/01/2007. What makes you believe he could get another job if we did not win. If we win, let him go because anyone we hire will be gone if successful. If and when we are successful, a new hire will be much easier. We need someone who can turn the program quickly and Fran is one that could. It would nice to have rumors written about our coach for a change other than what date he will be fired.
