From the Island...

A buddy of mine who lives on the island (and who has very close ties to The Mustang Band) sent me the following email tonight after I inquired about his thoughts on Jones' being considered for the SMU job. I also asked him about flights from Honolulu to Dallas. He's a former Marine so he's using military time in his response.

I've heard that his office here is in pathetic shape. Holes in the drywall, ratty carpet and it's the same stuff that was in there when he initially got here. I've been on the practice field at the Manoa Campus and it was a joke. I couldn't believe that as successful as he's been here that he couldn't get some decent facilities. Also, his budget for recruiting is embarassing. With all of that it is amazing what he has done with the 0 & 12 team he took over. It would be a tremendous lift to the SMU program if they are successful in getting him signed. As for flights, I like the American Airlines night flights. They usually leave at 1850 and 2050 then arrive at 0600 and 0800.
