your boy Hansen

Postby Hoop Fan » Tue Nov 11, 2003 9:53 am

I realize Dale Hansen is not exactly a favorite of most Mustang fans, but he does make some insightful sports points now and then. Yesterday he was talking Cowboys and pointed out something that applies to any football team. He said, what if Jim Fassell and his kicker don't go brain dead in Week 2 and hand that game to Dallas? At 0-2, the entire outlook and attitude would have been different and the Cowboys would be lucky to be a .500 team right now. Similarly, if SMU could have made a simple 35 yard field goal to tie at Baylor in Week two and pulled out the game, this would have been a different season. No, we would not be 8-2, but I'd bet you we would have had 3 wins by now. Bartel would still be here also because the frustration wouldn't have mounted, but that may or may not have been best in the long run. Losing teams find ways to lose, but things probably seem worse than they really are. A few more quality players and a good break can change the direction of any program.

Methinks Keylon Kincade fumbling on the goalline in two separate games also had something to do with the course of this season.

Whenever I'm in Dallas, I boycott WFAA-TV on my channel selections. Of course, let's not forget that it wasn't just Dale-Boy that 'helped us get to where we are today'...the former governor of Texas, Bill Clements, didn't exactly do us any favors. God help that S.O.B. if I ever see him face-to-face. Same goes for Sherwood Blount.

I think if we had not turned the ball over twice in their red zone, leading to two scores we might have won the game. How silly is is this thread.
