Re: Thursday's Dallas Morning NewsNo, I do not work for the athletic department. You make a great point, though. Why the urgency to change now when we have had losing seasons and low attendance for years. It is this simple. Win and people will come.
Re: Thursday's Dallas Morning NewsYea, I don't blame Turner and Copeland for this mess, they didnt get here until 1994. But why did it take until 2001 to get the admissions process fixed? Now the admin constantly ballyhoos that as a reason for hope. Excuse me, but why wasn't it done sooner? What still hasn't been done that needs to be done? Maybe 0-12 will get somebodys attentions, nothing else seems to.
Re: Thursday's Dallas Morning NewsIt is a shame the line between support and blind faith is blurred on the hilltop.
Re: Thursday's Dallas Morning NewsUnfortunately, EVERTHING's "broke" with this team...from Administration support to fan support, from Athletic Director to QB Coach, from offense to defense to special teams...and recruiting hamstrings....
As a 1995 alum without much disposable income, I don't know what the %*#@ I can do...out of frustration in the past I said I would never buy season tickets again (and I won't next year), but I don't believe SMU football will survive if fan support continues to drop...we're pretty much at rock bottom now. It seems the only solution is for some pretty POWERFUL big dogs to kick this administration in the @$$ and DEMAND that 1) ALL recruiting restrictions be abandoned; 2) a new, EXPENSIVE AD and head coach be hired (Bennett can stay on as DC); and 3)an AGGRESSIVE marketing campaign begin with the aim of drawing support from the Metroplex, North Texas high schools and the state for ALL THINGS SMU. (And I'm not just talking about having David Broder give a Tate lecture or having Meat Loaf sing at McFarlin Auditorium)...we need REAL marketing and face time... Unfortunately, it's DO OR DIE time...you can only hit rock bottom once without moving up or being destroyed...Go ahead Turner and Copeland...push along with the current "Commitment"...and you'll be known as the jerkoffs who put the final nail in the coffin for SMU football and athletics...
Re: Thursday's Dallas Morning NewsWell, guys, reply with your thoughts to my "Pressure" thread and see if we can do something about it. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
