The resignation letter was a contract ploy

Postby George S. Patton » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:28 pm

It had nothing to do with him actually leaving Hawaii. I said that earlier today. Now, based on the events of Jones having to decide, you see where the reality has come forth.

Good by Jones to get mileage out of it and get the 50th state in an uproar.

HONESTLY, he's right though.

If it WASN'T a contract ploy, then why would "...june still be deciding between the two schools..." if he totally quit Hawaii, then he would only be deciding between SMU or 'not SMU'.

man this sucks. going to bed with the help of a vicodin, cabernet and benadryl. If I wake up in the morning, I am hoping for good news.

She went to bed at 8. School on Monday. But if I had to guess, she'd probably say Hawaii.

Patton,

I don't think because he didn't send the letter means that he never intented to go to SMU. Why would you ever put yourself in such a bad negotiating position? If you send the letter, SMU has more leverage, as there aren't many coaching positions left, and if June went back to Hawaii and tried to recend his letter of resignation, Hawaii would know that he doesn't want to come to SMU, so they wouldn't offer as much.
