At what point does the eventual hire..

Feel like 18th choice?

I know that Pete Carroll was 5th choice or something. But after this search being so private and quiet, and then possibly being turned down very publicly twice - it's got to weigh in any potential coach's decision.

But, I guess for $2mil it would be easy to get over - pretty darn quick.

That's the danger you face when you make a conscious decision to let a candidate lead you around by the nose for a month.

2 Million obviously doesn't mean anything anymore as nobody SMU has offered it to, has taken that 2 mill.

As a matter of fact they took less not to come to SMU.

This process will have cost several $100 thousand extra to hire our fallback coach. Good thing it's not my money.

Imagine the bargaining position that Fran would be in right now when SO calls him and offers him the job?? He could tell him he wants nothing less than June Jones money plus 10%.

And if SO tells Fran to pound sand, imagine what Coker asks for when he gets the call??

Setting up to be a pretty humiliating day for SMU.

Gill makes something like 180K
Bowden, Barnett, Coker understand how the game is played.
Just think the determination/chip on their shoulder the coach is going to have to prove everyone wrong & that they should have been the 1ST choice all along.
These guys are extremely competitive.

Of course, please disregard if JJ signs :o

Hopefully...I've got a nervous feeling, though.

Figures I get tix to go watch my second (and only other) favorite team play for a NC and all I will be thinking about is "What is going on with the SMU coaching situation???"

After about noon today, I will not know anything until I wake up and check ponyfans tomorrow. :x

Have a great time winning the NC tonight and don't let SMU bring you down --- we'll still have plenty of drama left for this board tomorrow.

Just think of the worse possible thing that could happen...and it will.
