JJ will gut Baylor and TCU recruiting

TCU may have a run oriented offense but they still want tall, athletic QB's and receivers. Just like we do.

I too wish TCU well, - after we beat them - because it makes a rivalry. I remember the 60,70,80's when we beat TCU like a drum and the rivalry faded.

SMU will be more competitive going forward which is great for both schools.

I see us finally taking away TCU , Baylor and (maybe OSU) recruits. NT and the rest of CUSA I don't think can recruit with us giving JJ's arrival and new admission standards.
We are still not in TT, A&M, OU or UT's league.

I guarantee you that Leigh Steinburg had a list of demands that SMU agreed BEFORE he even talked money or let JJ get involved. This guy is the premier agent in sports.

The non monetary demands were:
1. Recruiting budget on par with lower tier Big 12 schools.
2. Admission waivers for 25-30 kids a year. Only requirement is that they pass the NCAA minimum.
3. Transfer rules that let students / athletes that are interested in sports oriented careers transfer in with a minimum loss of hours.

I assumed it. He left UH because of a poor recruiting budget - so he would be sensitive to his SMU recruiting budget. I'm sure he heard all about the academic standards limiting the recruiting pool.
He isn't going to ruin his gold plated reputation losing games because he can't recruit the kind of player he can win with.
JJ had all the leverage and he used it to give himself every opportunity to continue his success.
