Stallion,

It is sad but the little SWC is no more. We out here in Midland have been expecting this to happen for the last two re alignments. The wildcard was Abilene Cooper. I am told the Abilene ISD re arrange district lines several years ago between the three AISD High Schools. The old 3-5A had only six schools, Odessa, Midland and Abilene ISD's. each town had two 5A schools in the district. Many of the schools were having to go out of state or clear across state to play five non district games. Now, there will be nine district games but only one non district game, which will help with football scheduling. The new district includes the two Odessa schools, the two Midland school, two Amarllio schools, three Lubbock schools and one San Angelo school. One of the major drawbacks to the new district is the travel situation. Midland to Amarillo is a four hour drive, to Lubbock it is two hours. San Angelo to Amarllio is going to be about a six hour drive. This will cause problems for all sports that play games during the weekday. I grew up in Dallas and I always thought it was the end of the world when we had to make trips to Greenville and Sherman back in the day. Out here in West Texas you just get use to it.
