Unfortunately you can't get away with hiring an assistant coach whose sole job is to jump in the stands and beat the crap out of NTSUers. What's he going to do the rest of the time?

Because he earned it as an administrator here at SMU. It speaks nothing about the man that he was, nor the unfortunate health problems that he encountered. Same as saying Dickerson was wonderful for SMU. It speaks of his accomplishments on the field, and not necessarily the individual that he was.

Mr. Pye earned this distinction through his work here at SMU, that's all.
