It was a great interview. JJ said he was contacted about the SMU job during last season and inidcated his interest to Dickerson but could not pursue it until Hawaii's football season was over. He said he was only interested in the SMU and Duke jobs because he enjoys turning around programs. He said his system works and the biggest learning curve is the qb position. He indicated the talent level is on par with the talent he had his first year in Hawaii but SMU may have a little more talent at the skill positions on offense. He expects Willis to return next season and saw progress from Logan Turner in the spring. JJ expects about half of next year's freshman class to play based on their high school film. He was pleased with the level of interest he received from high school players last year when he took the job and he expects a great recruiting year next season. He said SMU will win but he cannot say when. JJ was impressed with Turner and Orsini's commitment to playing winning football and said SMU has great facilities to accomplish the goal.
