Former Mustang DB Kevin Garrett Traded to Winnipeg (CFL)

Postby MrMustang1965 » Sun Jun 01, 2008 2:24 pm

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have traded defensive back Kevin Garrett to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a negotiation list player and future considerations.

Garrett signed with the Roughriders in March after playing in the final four games of the regular season for the Calgary Stampeders in 2007. His season started with the NFL's Carolina Panthers, where he was cut after training camp.

In four games with the Stampeders last season, Garrett recorded four tackles and two special teams tackles.

The Southern Methodist University product was drafted in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams.

Garrett played 25 games over the course of two seasons with the Rams, before signing with the Houston Texans.

No details were released on the negotiation list player sent to Saskatchewan.

In other roster moves, Saskatchewan also added defensive backs Denetay Heard and Tad Kornegay to the roster while offensive lineman Ryan Ackerman, defensive lineman Nuvraj Bassi, defensive back Jeremy Burnett, receiver Princeton Shepherd and linebacker T.J. Stancil were all released.

Receivers Matt Dominguez (Sam Houston State product), David McKoy and Mike Washington were added to the disabled list.
