Just Because we say ND is no longer relevant does not make it so. They are still the 900 pound gorilla at the table like it or not..

Bottom line, Steve went to school at ND, played football at ND, and was the Captain on the '77 Championship Team at ND.

His years at ND have to be some of his fondest.
Naturally for him, no other AD job is going to rank above being the AD at ND.
What we think about the ND program or ND AD job is irrelevant.

If they want him and his family is ok with the change, he will be gone.

As much as we all want Steve to stay at SMU, it would be unfair for us to fault him. He did what most thought was impossible. He owes us nothing.

If SMU were to erect a 'Touchdown Jesus' in the south end zone at Ford Stadium, maybe he'd stay. ;)

He would be gone after 3 days. (Oh, you meant Orisini.)

Then the neighbors would complain because it would be "unsightly."

Funny...
Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.

Resurrecting our overall programs[football and basketball] may be enough for Steve O for awhile. Going to Notre Dame would be another whip to deal with. Alma mater or not I say he chills awhile to watch the possible rebirths here.
