Hey, I can't blame Orisini if he wants to listen to ND. I am an IP attorney who has several education clients, and if SMU came calling to replace S. Leon Bennett, of course I'd listen, and listen pretty intently, even if the gig isn't as remunerative as my present situation, because I love SMU.
ND is a BCS school, and perhaps the most storied football program in the NCAA, whatever you think of them. There are great number of plusses to the position, and I'm sure he sees ND like I see SMU and would be willing to put up with some of the inconveniences.
Still, I'd rather see Orisini stay- I think he has done some amazing things and could really be a transformative figure for the atheletic department. At ND, he'd be just another one of the family, here, at his present rate of turning this ship around, he could rise to the status of a semi-divinity when some of his moves start paying off.
But if he does leave, I also think that with the changes he has made, if the administration conducts a careful search, we can keep the moment going and get a good man in the job- SMU has to be more attractive than when Orsini took over the helm. We may not be a BCS school, but on an equal recruiting field, SMU has a great deal of potential.
