High praise for Reinbold from a former player

Keala Watson has had *four* DL coaches during his time at Hawaii (he started in 2004) and singled out Reinbold for praise.

"Jeff Reinebold was really good on key reads and assignments. He had us all being offensive coordinators, breaking down the other team's offense. He was knowledgeable about every play, every read, every scheme. That's why we made a lot of plays," Watson said. "I think he was outspoken because he knew what he was talking about. Everything he said was right. You could see it on film. He would bet with us, 20 pushups, where the ball was going. We'd always end up doing pushups. He knows everything about football, every position."

High praise, indeed. Love to see when students appreciate the knowledge their teachers have and share.

Let's not forget he's ranked among the nation's best recruiters, too.

"He knows everything about football, every position"

Who knows...maybe one day Jeff Reinebold
is the guy June will hand the baton off to.
I keep hearing great things about this guy
.

"Jeff Reinebold is the defensive line coach of the Hawaii Warriors football team. He formerly coached in the Canadian Football League and NFL Europe.

After playing defensive back for the Maine Black Bears under Jack Bicknell, Reinebold accepted the position of wide receivers coach at Western Montana. He then coached at Dartmouth, Montana and Penn before getting his first head coaching job at Rocky Mountain College in 1989, where he led the program to its first non-losing season in six years. The next season, he took a job of outside linebackers coach at New Mexico.

He began his professional coaching career in 1994 with the Las Vegas Posse. After the Possee folded, he stayed in the CFL with the British Columbia Lions. After coaching the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe for one season, he returned to the CFL as head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. After two seasons and a 5-29 record he returned to NFL Europe as Special Teams Coach of the Amsterdam Admirals.

In 2005, Reinebold was appointed NFL Europe’s Senior Manager of International Player Development. He later resigned his six figure position to take a $842.23 per month graduate assistantship with the Hawaii Warriors.

Check out the new PonyFans.com feature story about him at the top of the football message board. Sounds like a man who absolutely gets it done, so maybe your guess about June handing him the baton is right. After June gets us to a bunch of bowl games, we'll talk about it.

I became a fan of Jeff Reinebold, even before June was hired. I was at a lunch with him after JJ was hired, and after sitting at a table with Jeff for 90 minutes, I walked away thinking, SMU just got one of the top recruiters in the country.

Sungod is really approachable and a well rounded individual. He has the ability to coach every position on the field (without beating his chest) or offer perspective regarding the fine arts and social issues. Good guy and a character.
