The REAL Reason for Creampuff Schedules

Postby Stallion » Tue Jun 17, 2008 7:16 pm

CASH. It has a whole heck less to do with playing mediocre schools and whole lot more to do with scheduling extra home games which are financially lucrative to Big State U. Let's see for example with UT's expanded seating capacity of 92,000 * approximately $75 per person(conservative estimate for ticket, parking concessions etc) equals what about 6-6.5 Million Dollars for an extra home game.

An easy win at a full stadium. Helps with the revenue and especially with the BCS standings no matter how they try to spin it.

actually UT will make considerably more since the total expansion will put their capacity at almost 110,000 seats, not including standing room.

just heard today that UAB negotiated a deal to be paid $1.7 mil to play South Carolina in Columbia whereas I-AA Wofford got $200k. Kudos to UAB for negotiating that deal but most "cream puffs" will take $500k or less for these games. Thought I read that App State got $400k for that Michigan game last year
