for some reason, this makes me think something may be in the works. i see memphis leaving the conference solely on basketball and they would take football. im sure they want to get to 10 or 12 so they can stay bcs-worthy and it would only make sense to take anyone they could for a 10th team.
with that being said, ecu has no business joining in the little east ![]()
I say if Memphis or UCF go to the Big East we find a way to either pull TCU back in or bring someone like Miami of Ohio into CUSA so that we can all point and laugh at NTSU for being blackballed again. I nominate jtstang to head the committee.
Can I be the chair of heckling?

The Big East has 16 teams for all sports already. They now have the strongest basketball brand in the country and have the biggest basketball TV contract. There is no way they are going to mess with that. They would like to add a 9th team for football for easier scheduling, but that would be for football only. Nor are they going to add another powerhouse basketball program when they already are having good teams miss the cut for the dance. ECU might be willing to bend over and get raped to be in the BE for football only and the CAA for all sports if the CAA would take them. They already have a TV deal with MASN which is so starved for programming after baseball season (they are the Orioles and Nationals in house TV network) that MASN offered to carry their games and pay them a stick of bubble gum even though MASN is not carried in NC except on a pay basis by DTV and DISH. MASN though already carries BE football (1-AA teams Georgetown and Villanova) so that might complicate matters for East Carolina. I don't see this happening. North Carolina is not a football recruiting hot bed like Florida is and ECU is so remote that its not like they pick up a huge market. UNCC would have a better chance than ECU IMHO.
I would think that UCF would be much more appealing to the BE than ECU. Don't know if USF would allow it though
you're probably right about usf. they already have them as an out of conference rivalry game so why bring them in for recruiting competition? ![]()
