To Change the Subject- Sanders

that catch by Emmanuel Sanders is as good as you'll see. I'm not 100% sure that was a catch, but I'm 100% sure that you cannot reverse it based on the video evidence. The commentators for the Stanford/USC game last night had it right: if you can't tell it's obviously wrong, and pretty quickly, then let it go and stop wasting our time.

This had no effect on the game as we scored on the next play. But it nullified an awesome catch so I thought I'd complain to you about it.

Agreed. Sanders looked pretty crisp in action he saw.

The replay from the inside of the field showed pretty clearly that the ball was first on his fingertips as his feet hit in the end zone and then just for a moment left his control as it went to his chest. At that point his feet also left the turf. He then totally secured the ball and hit out of the end zone. I do agree that in the past this would never have been overruled, but it should have been, and I for one am kind of impressed that they did. With it being as clear as I saw it, I would sure have been screaming had it been the other team and it not been overruled. This gives me hope for better replay decisons as the season goes forward. Very nice the way that they recovered and scored on the next play.

That was a great effort though. I think Sanders will miss JW this season, those 2 had a connection and were the stars of the team the past 2 seasons, even to the point of JW forcing the ball to him, but most of the time he still made the catch. I'll be surprised if Sanders puts up career best numbers this season, which I think when JJ was named coach we all thought Sanders would.

The ball was completely free and turning. It was very clear. But you are correct. It meant 6 seconds lost in game time. I do not think we could have over come the deficit in 6 seconds.

It looked to me that Sanders had problems with Mitchell's ball speed and power. He is used to Justin's soft throws and has to adjust to Mitchell. The only balls I recall in dropping were hard fastballs right to him.

Mrydel-that's exactly the way I saw it too. I thought it should have been overturned the first time I saw the replay. Sanders feet dragged the turf before he even caught the ball-then his feet went up in the air and he landed on his arm/shoulder out of bounds. A superlative effort by Sanders though.

It was a great effort and should be kept in the highlight reel. No one will remember against whom or catch or no catch during a film of highlights.
