Noe very big positive from last night...

Yeah, the defense is horrible, and for the most part the offense took advantage of short fields to score and all that stuff.

But, in my mind there was a huge positive.

With a frosh QB running the Run and Shoot, you look for a moment where the light actually comes on. I thought early in the game BLM struggled with making some of his reads quickly and was bothered by Texas State putting some pressure on him. He made some poor passes under pressure and short-armed some things.

However, I think there was an absolutely great possession in the fourth quarter that is very important for the rest of the season.

Texas State had just cut the lead to 11. ON first down, BLM gets sacked for an 8 yard loss. TS had all the momentum.

BLM steps up on second down, hits a nice 8 yard out. Then, third and ten, knowing our defense is awful, he steps up in the pocket, has a huge hole, but holds back, doesn't try and run, and floats a nice pass to Sanders going across the field, over two defenders. That is a play where WIllis would scramble and come up short. Very poised, nice touch.

Next play, SMU calls a shovel pass. TS blows it up, they are all ove Martin. BLM holds the ball, doesn't throw a disaster, then scrambles right. He then knows that he can't throw the ball away because the OL has already started down the field, and scrambles for a one yard game. Very heads up play. After that, he throws the deep ball to Robinson for a touchdown.

That was a very impressive drive, and something I didn't expect to see for several games. I think BLM is evolving faster than expected.

The defense is horrible, and I don't expect to win the next two games, but I think that the offense at least will be very good over the second half of the season.
