TCU Bans Drinking At Football Tailgate Parties
FORT WORTH (AP) ― Tailgate parties at Texas Christian University are a bit more tame this year.
The university is prohibiting student alcohol consumption at campus events and moved tailgating parties to the Commons, an open area on campus.
The university has sponsored football tailgate parties for students over the last two years where students 21 and older could drink beer, but school officials say citations from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and difficulties preventing underage drinking led to the rule.
"What we found is that it was a difficult situation to enforce," said Don Mills, TCU's vice chancellor for student affairs. "TABC was concerned about it. We were concerned about it."
The rule was in effect for Saturday's game against Stephen F. Austin, when not a single citation was written, said Lt. Charlie Cloud of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Last football season, some 50 to 100 citations, mostly for underage drinking, were issued at TCU. Violators face up to a $500 fine, Cloud said.

Too much competition?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I remember this rumor as well. The entire school was looking for this girl on Day 1 of Orientation. I am pretty sure she never enrolled...
