June the predictable

Postby PonySnob » Sun Sep 14, 2008 8:33 am

Interesting quote from the Tech DB in the Dallas Morning News about how they knew that we would throw it deep on our first play so he just hung back waiting for the ball...........as that is what June always does.

Wait...wait...correct me if I'm wrong but if the QB makes a proper throw there, doesn't he hit the receiver, for oh, a 30+ yard gain on the very first play?

I didn't see any incredible defensive alignments or outstanding play there...I saw a QB overthrow an open receiver by several yards, which went right into a DB's hands.

I realize it's fun to make fun of our own, but damn, Coach Jones' offense calls for the ball to be in the air 70 or 80 percent of the time. If they DIDN'T look for a deep pass on the first play - and virtually every play thereafter - the story would have been about how to keep the Red Raiders awake in film sessions. Everyone in the building new the ball was going downfield.

It's like ripping an option coach, because the other team knew he'd run the ball "as he always does." Ooooooh - good one.

Didn't we run on the first play the week before?
