Anybody but DeMyron

Postby Pony81 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 5:46 pm

When I see DeMyron Martin run he reminds me of the old style I formation running back. Takes a while to get started but once he has acceleration he is hard to bring down.

Unfortunately he doesn't have that quick acceleration needed to the spread offense.

I saw play after play where he gets the ball in space but doesn't have the quickness to exploit it and gain positive yardage.

The spread needs a quick, smurf type running back. DeMyron is not it.

I kinda though Butler might get some reps in the backfield, but I guess he's too small to block?
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Insert June Jones - "We don't play the Spread"
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I thought Butler showed some zip - admittedly in garbage time but he runs like someone committed to hitting the hole - which is unique in our backfield. Hope we see a lot more of him.

As i have said before. Demyron looks like he is running in slow motion when he has the ball

We need to recruit a top back-period.

sad but very true.

JJ had some big bruisers at RB/FB while he coached at Hawaii. but with the talent we have at WR, we need a quicker, smaller scat back
