I'm very interested in it. This game will tell us a lot about the team and what we can expect for the rest of the season. Traditionally SMU has struggled mightily against Tulane.

I expect a loss but I do expect to see players of the future inserted into the game ie Logan and Butler. They could energize this O. Too bad Loftin is out. That guy can play.

Bigger ? is the D. Can they stop anybody? Who do you put in there that can make a difference? Bailey? Thompson?

I agree with playing Butler. I would love to see him play more in this game.

Yeah this game will be the barometer for the rest of the season. If we can hang in there with Tulane, then we might be able to scratch out another win or two. However, if Tulane rolls us, then its likely to be 1-11 this year. Keeping it tight with Tulane would at least give the kids confidence that they can play with a team at the Div.1A level.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Steve Harvey started this column when he was attending USC for the "Daily Trojan" back in 1966.

No one had ever done this before, I believe, until he started it and then it got syndicated after he graduated.

Notice how he included UCLA at No. 9 and Notre Dame at No. 20.

USC prejudice showing perhaps?

Honestly, I do not think the Tulane game will be any kind of a guide to the rest of the season. They are possibly the second best defense we will face this year. There are some really bad ones on our schedule. Those will be the ones that may become a track meet and that we may have a chance of winning. Tulane is totally unlike most of our remaining schedule.

Tulane will give a clue to UCF as they also have a good D and not so good O.

The rest are of the track meet variety:
Tulsa TTL D 87
Houston TTL D 107, PAss Eff D 97
Navy Pass Eff D #110
Memphis Pass Eff D #83
UTEP (our best chance) Pass Eff D #119, the worst
USM TTL D 94

So, Tulane is just more of TCU.
