The Rice model

Rice has now bypassed SMU too. First they hire a coach good enough to be lured away to Tulsa. Then they replace him with a coach that gets them a winning record this year and nearly a piece of the league title. SMU used to suppose that we had parity with TCU and then have had to reluctantly admit that the Frogs have passed us by. Now Rice is doing the same thing in football, and they have all of the same problems (and more) that SMU has said were limiting the ponies in Dallas. For that matter, Tulsa has moved ahead of SMU too. These are all private schools. How has it come to this?

Rice made the change from the option to the spread and hasnt looked back since

im not saying that team is a fraud but we'll see how good they are when they dont have chase and dilliard

and chase and dillard are both San Antonio boys we didn't recruit, and in fact chase himself tried to contact SMU and was told "no thanks"

how did that work out ?
