My arse. He took a swing at the ref as the ref was trying to push him back. Looked to me like he knocked him down.

It was a total loss of control. Bell did facemask #5 but he was the one that took the first swing at Bell. Unfortunately Bell didn't back down even after the refs pulled him away. Don't forget #5 charged Bell after they got separated. A bunch of folks around us thought the ref was trying to push Bell to the ground and that is when he swung. Not sure if I buy into that, but no matter what you NEVER hit a Ref or a Coach, it is the fastest way to the locker room.

Lets hope June can get these guys under control for next season.

On the plus side it was my son's first football game and he had a blast. Lets hope for next year........

Forgot that very important point. #5 did come back at Bell, but that didn't stop Bell from throwing a few more punches then either.

Throwing a punch at a player will get you tossed, and might get you suspended from a game.

Throwing a punch at the ref might get you tossed from school.

So what do we think June will do/say about it? I wouldn't be that surprised if we don't see Bell next year.

If he removes one of the only defensive bright spots for that, then we are not on the track I thought we were. Time to do like the big boys and kiss some a** and get everyone over it.

I'm all for whitewashing everything and playing him next season. If we want to actually try to win for once, we need to do these things.

Bell has been solid, but that is some serious loss of control. Especailly if this isn't the first time he has hit a ref. You play with intensity but you focus it. In the end, if he really is a bright spot then we just lost him for 2 quarters in our opener next year.

I'm not worried what June will do. I am sure he will take everything into consideration.

I am more worried about R. Gerald Turner.

My take: suspend him the first game, maybe two, next year.

I liked his fire, but that's not the way to show it.

Rice Beats Houston

56-42. Rice is 9-3. Good for Rice. Hope this year they win their bowl game this time.
