How would set up Big XII tiebreakers?

Postby Charleston Pony » Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:08 pm

or any other conference for that matter? what if SMU finished in a 3 way tie in CUSA west similar to what happened to UT, Tech & OU?

We can all agree on head to head which didn't help. We can probably further agree that records within your division is the next tie breaker, but then what?

I don't favor total points for/against as it discourages sportsmanship and I respect coaches who give the 2nd and 3rd team guys playing time in blowout games - to reward them for the hard work they put in only to ride the bench.

What about conference records of the conference teams you beat? I haven't even looked at that to see whether that would have broken the tie. Seems like that would at least reward the team that played the tougher conference schedule.

What do you do beyond that?

The SEC has it right - if there is a three way tie, they take the two highest ranked teams in the BCS and then it goes to the head to head between those two.

SEC, ACC, CUSA, etc..

they all have the same tie-breaker when two teams are ranked within 5 spots. look it up.... i am tired of this
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

That actually only happens if the top two are ranked within 5 spots of one another, otherwise it goes to the highest ranked team. ALSO the tie breaker in acc and cusa, among others i believe
