Couldn't agree more.

I thought his offense would work well--being in the ACC where no one is prepared to defend it (as it would in C-USA)--but I thought it would take a couple of years to change the personel and make it work.

There were a couple of interesting interviews this week with Osborne and Switzer talking about this exact topic and Paul Johnson specifically: Switzer said he would take a triple option over the spread any day. Osborne was a bit more complimentary of the spread, but considered it a trend that will go away as soon as people figure out how to defend it. He thought Johnson's success was similar to Switzer's--in that what they do/did is so different than what teams see on a week to week basis that it is very difficult to prepare for when you only see it once a year. However, he also obviously still believes that being able to establish the run is the most important aspect to any offense, and thinks people will keep some elements of the spread, but start puting running games back in as defenses start to adjust to the spread. (More zone-read/zone-spread type offenses.)
