I hope DH doesn't lay a trap for JJ tonight.

I doubt JJ is very worried about anyone setting a trap for him...and I doubt he will apologize for doing what he feels needs to be done to rebuild this program.

I think everyone knows he will not apologize for what he did. That's not the real issue. The real issue is how is the interview and the answer to that question (if asked) going to be perceived by potential recruits and their parents that watch the show. We don't need the negative publicity right now.

Hansen did his best to show what a jerk he is. "SMU has a culture of cheating." He knew he was going to throw that in somewhere.
JJ did well though when he was able to get a word in edge-wise. Talked about how great the 25 players in this class are and how he never could have gotten a class like it at Hawaii.
"We will win championships." He said.
DH led off with the players kicked off the team. JJ did OK with it.

Maybe that's how Dale feels important - he asks a question and then steps all over the answer so much that it seems like his own opinion is actually worth something.

.
I think Dale said,"SMU has a long history of cheating." But JJ handled it well like you said. Not much recruitng damage done as far as I could see. But I will be glad when Dale gets past feeling the need to mention something negative about SMU every chance he gets.

Yeah, I think you are right. But the whole thing was a set-up that he led into with the question like "Doesn't one have to develop a culture of winning". As soon as JJ responded he came back with his planned zinger.

Dale must own the station. He covers nothing, clearly does no homework for interviews and comes across as an ill-prepared, pompous [deleted] ... because he is.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

Armen has the transcript on Ponypride.com. Obviously, the way the questions were asked could draw the spirited reaction.
But just reading -- I stress reading -- I didn't think the questions were all that unfair. He asked a good number of questions about the program's current state.
I thing some of us blew the cheating line out of proportion. Read what Armen found. "SMU has a logg history of cheating, hopefully history,...or something like that. I was fine with it.
What was ridiculous was another Gary Cogill reference and the fact Dale admitted that he didn't know scholarships were renewable every year.
Again, judging by just reading it, it was fine.

BTW I'm more and more convinced that June Jones or someone close to him reads Ponyfans.com. Note his reference to other teams cutting players and referencing specifically Texas A&M. Texas A&M never had a press release that I've seen on that subject. What was posted on Ponyfans in the infamous Kaboom thread was an excerpt from TexAgs.com referencing about 14 players who would not be returning next season(for various undisclosed but speculated reasons-including injury, personal choice, quitting and some speculation that players weren't invited back since they were "No longer with the Team"). There are several other instances in which Jones is repeating information posted on Ponyfans from pretty unique sources.

JJ doesn't. The AD's office and the SID's office do. This has been obvious for years. I remember when men's track was cancelled, the initial release was pretty sparse but by the end of the day, they were going to the media with a bunch of talking points straight from the message boards.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I know the blog has been discontinued for a while (although you made a couple posts last season), but is there any timetable for it returning on a full-time basis? Always a great read. Would love to see you posting again!

Hansen also bloviated that he was distressed that all the jt posted hot babe pics seemed to have disappeared from Ponyfans.com and wondered if there was a cover-up going on.
