From the bits and pieces I remember of that tailgate/game, it was a ton of fun and everyone had a great time. the girl's outfits were still top notch despite it being freezing out. im graduating and won't be here, but it is definitely a great idea to have again if at all possible.

The BOOlevard was awesome when we played on Halloween two years ago. So was the game. I don't understand the whining. It was a lot more fun than your average late-October game against your average CUSA opponent. Why wouldn't you try duplicating that?

First of all, it wasn't THAT cold. And it doesn't usually get cold in late October in Dallas. The weather was a fluke.

Secondly, that was a weeknight game, which contributed to the lower attendance (lower by SMU standards). Halloween 2009 is on a Saturday night. The Halloween game two years ago was also televised, giving people an easy excuse to stay home.

The students left the game early to go to Halloween parties. Guess what? They always leave games early to go to parties. Enough costumed students stuck around to keep the spirit going - including the pom squad who looked dang good in their Halloween outfits.

If you make the BOOlevard a yearly tradition, and promote it, people will come. At the game two years ago, my kid trick-or-treated on the stadium concourse at the booths set up by the sororities (!!!). He had a blast. He didn't miss trudging through the neighborhood. He got his candy, he got to dress up AND he went to a Mustang game.

For once, SMU had something unique to promote. No other area school, no other Dallas pro sports franchise, has an annual Halloween game. Once again, SMU dropped the ball.
