PerunaPunch - it is sad that 6 were let go but in todays economic crisis hard choices have to be made - where would you cut - football? basketball? - none of the sports were cut - the only other place left is in administration and that was basicly marketing (3 were in marketing - i in sid - 1 in women's athletic administration and 1 in tickets - not 6 in marketing like the orginal poster stated)

When? Six months or more from now?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Does anyone know the names of all 6 who were let go? I have a friend in the marketing department and I'm hoping he isn't one of the cuts...

Among the six released were Shawn McGee, the associate athletic director of sales and marketing; Steve [deleted], an assistant director to public relations and Koni Daws, the senior women's associate director and assistant athletic director.
Why does that name sound so familiar?

Its harsh but considering the powderpuff football had a larger crowd than the Red and Blue game, what were they doing anyway?
Major difference, Powderpuff has a boulevard feel with a dj, pizza and alcohol. Red & Blue has, umm, big red rooster?

I believe [deleted] ran ponyfans back in the day. Eventually he was hired by SMU's media relations dept to be a full time employee, so I'm assuming he had to cut his ponyfans ties at that point.

Per my inside source in the Athletic Dept., all gameday entertainment and activities are being outsourced to a firm in India.

Looking forward to when SMU and TCU stop play to break into song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsuA6oJ_Yk8The song translates into: Baar baar haan (Again and again, yes) Bolo yaar haan ( Say it friends,) Apni jeet ho (May we win,) Unki haar haan (may they lose,) Koi humse jeet na paawe (No one should win against us,) Chale chalo, chale chalo (keep going, keep going) Mit jaawe jo takrawe, Chale chale chale chalo,(One who bangs against us should get destroyed, keep going keep going)
Ghanghor andhera chawe, chale chalo chale chalo (Even if there is complete darkness, keep going, keep going)
