Matthew Stafford - ? JaMarcus Russel - ? doesnt look good though Alex Smith - busting Eli Manning - not Carson Palmer - not David Carr - ehhhh Michael Vick - not Tim Couch - bust Peyton Manning - not Drew Bledsoe - not Jeff George - not Troy Aikman - not Vinny Testaverde - not John Elway - not Steve Bartkowski - have no idea Jim Plunkett - not Terry Bradshaw - not
And then if you compare the great QB's who were drafted (any round, which means some team saw potential) against those who werent, there is no contest at all.
Yeah when jaMarcus was drafted number 1 I was shocked.

My opinion is that he is doing this for recruiting purposes. Leach wants a big time QB and if his QBs never get drafted or do anything in the pros its going to be awfully dificult to get any big time recruits to Tech.

If you need to pay someone to take the SAT for you to get into TAM then you really ought to think about not going to school at all.

get over it - Leach is a man and Sherman is a [deleted] and McGee sucks
and this criteria for being a man is?
can shoot off his mouth? can win football games? is 40?
I never defended Sherman, I think it was a bad hire, but I hope for the best. We don't know one way or the other on McGee yet, as his time at A&M did little to showcase his skill set (terrible D = ball control offense). I just disagree with how Leach conducts himself in the media, I dont think its professional or appropriate.
And yes, A&M is not exceedingly difficult to get into.

I liked him when he said something about how UT always seems to have the refs on their side. Which i think is true in my opinion. Remember the Oklahoma Int that was completely ignored this last year?!?! Even though he got fined 10 k for that. I dont think he was the first to publicly state that either. I believe one of the Kansas coaches said something about it too.
My dad told me how back in the early 80's an smu RB jumped over a pile clearly a few feet into the endzone before being pushed back to win a game against UT. Only to have the refs say he did not get in.

Mike Leach is roundly viewed by aggies as the antichrist...he has singlehandedly made Tech an issue, and effectively dominated aTm in most of the meetings while coaching Tech. He is quotable, and does not particularly care which feathers get ruffled in the process. He DOES know exactly what he is doing when he opens his mouth, and you can bet he seeks to play from a position of strength (see Gerald Myers/contract negotiations this past fall).
What was a rivalry from primarily Tech's standpoint has developed into a bloodletting every year. Even back in the 70s, aTm viewed Tech as the strange uncle in the SWC family that everyone acknowledges as less than all there. The aggies that I pastor come in on Sunday following Tech losses more upset than the Sabbath after UT...they feel above Tech folks, and now are being dominated by them...it IS entertaining, if at the same time sad.
I would enjoy beating either team once more before the apocalypse...

I wouldnt say we feel above Tech, I would say that A&M was traditionally better than Tech. Its not like its odd that Oklahoma feels like its better than, say, Missouri...OU is just perennially better. Now A&M's athletic department has driven itself into the ground, and Tech is much, much better. Mack Brown does not lord the fact that Texas is/was/will be better than A&M over anyones head...its just true, and he doesnt have to say it. Leach spews vitriol, a large portion of which is directed at A&M. He either knows the success will be short-lived, or is just that kind of guy.
He has had major success on the field, and had successfully jump started a rivalry. Hopefully, when A&M rights the ship (I have hope for Sherman, but dont expect alot), whoever the coach is will have the good sense not to shoot off his mouth. I do genuinely hope Tech is still good at that point, too, and we can enjoy a competitive rivalry without the palpable hatred.
